Delivery Hero’s Turkish brand Yemeksepeti launches Mahalle platform and acquires Marketyo to drive quick commerce

| 12 Aug 2021

Berlin, 12 August 2021 – Delivery Hero SE (“Delivery Hero”), the world’s leading local delivery platform, today announces that Yemeksepeti, its subsidiary in Turkey, is launching Mahalle, a quick commerce platform aiming to deliver anything from local stores at record speed. As part of the Mahalle launch, Yemeksepeti acquires Marketyo, an online shop platform providing local supermarkets with the opportunity to move their business online, significantly expanding their customer base and adding a robust stream of additional revenue.

Niklas Östberg, CEO and Co-Founder of Delivery Hero, said: “As the world’s leading local delivery platform, we see ourselves as partners to our communities. In an increasingly digitized industry, it is our priority to support local shop owners - particularly in the challenging times we have seen in the past year. Both Yemeksepeti and Marketyo set a great example of how we can bring local support to the next level, combining the strengths of our digital platform and the incredible variety that physical stores have to offer. I’m confident that this is only the beginning of the quick commerce revolution.”

Marketyo operates in 60 cities all over Turkey, with a wide network of local supermarkets, a solid digital infrastructure and strong talent pool. Through this partnership, Marketyo’s member stores will add a tremendous selection of products, complementary to Yemeksepeti’s local offering.

Özer Fırat, CEO of Marketyo, said: “Throughout the years, Marketyo has welcomed a plethora of local supermarkets to its platform. Today, we are more than excited to further expand our scope and reach with the support of Yemeksepeti. We are convinced that our goal to digitize small local businesses will greatly benefit from the company’s know-how and resources. With this in mind, we want to thank Yemeksepeti for creating a success story that will positively influence the full Turkish ecosystem.”
